Different makeup essentials are kept in a small pink pouch

Your makeup travel bag is a multifunctional accessory.

Your makeup travel bag is a multifunctional accessory. It's a toolkit, the vessel for self-care, and a place where you keep your makeup. So, not surprisingly, the makeup bag can become a hot mess. It's why we often dig to find something.

Your makeup bag should get a refresh as often as you can manage, especially with the change of season. Here are practical tips for turning the chaos into control.

Take Out the Unnecessary From Your Makeup Travel Bag

The first step is emptying the bag. Get rid of that blush you learned to hate. Toss out the expired and old. Most products have short lifespans anyway. Narrow the elements to what you need, leaving room for new stuff.

Clean the Bag

Find the instructions for cleaning your bag. The interior will need more care than the exterior. You want to turn the bag inside to get at the nooks and crannies. When it's dry, spray the bag with an antibacterial product.

Clean Makeup Brushes

Use something gentle to the skin, like baby shampoo. Massage bristles and rinse under the tap until the water's clear. Dry brushes upside down so that water doesn't damage the handles! To keepbags clean, keep brushes in their cases (which you clean as well), in bags with components, or individual clear bags. You also want to keep accessories like tweezers and eyelash curlers clean. Give them a spritz of antibacterial and wipe with a soft cloth.

You can put everything back in the bag. For a cleaner look, consider small containers to hold grooming tools, bobby pins, scrunchies, hairstyles, etc. It'll make finding what you need to touch up easier.

A clean makeup bag promises you'll have a resource that avoids a lot of shuffling and digging. And that's guaranteed if you make clean-up a routine.
